Dongfeng Motor’s NEV brand, Voyah, recently introduced its latest model, the Zhiyin, in China, which will also be available in international markets under the name Courage. This new all-electric SUV is positioned as a competitor to Tesla’s popular Model Y.
The Zhiyin marks Voyah’s fourth model and serves as the debut vehicle for the brand’s next-generation all-electric platform. At the launch event held in China, Voyah unveiled four variants of the Zhiyin, with starting prices ranging from RMB 196,900 to RMB 236,900. Additionally, a limited edition of 3,000 units of the base model is offered at a discounted starting price of RMB 179,900.
In terms of specifications, the Voyah Zhiyin is a mid-size all-electric SUV with dimensions measuring 4,725 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,636/1,653 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Comparatively, the Tesla Model Y has similar dimensions but slightly longer in length and wider in width.
The Zhiyin is available in two variants built on an 800 V platform and two variants utilizing a regular 400 V platform. It includes a single dual-motor four-wheel drive variant and three single-motor models, offering different power outputs and acceleration capabilities.
Furthermore, the Zhiyin offers three battery pack options with capacities of 77 kWh, 79 kWh, and 109 kWh, providing ranges of 625 km, 570 km, 650 km, and 901 km for the respective variants. The 109 kWh battery pack features lithium ternary cells, while the others utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The Zhiyin’s fast-charging capability allows it to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 10 minutes.
Voyah, a brand established by Dongfeng Motor in late 2020, aims to expand its presence in international markets with the Zhiyin. The company has set a target to sell 100,000 vehicles in 2024, following strong delivery figures of 10,001 units in September and 52,548 units from January to September.
With the launch of the Zhiyin, Voyah is poised to enhance its market position and compete effectively with established players in the electric vehicle segment. The brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in the design and performance of the Zhiyin, positioning it as a compelling option for consumers seeking an all-electric SUV.
