EHang, Cyberport, KC Smart Mobility Collaborate to Advance Urban Air Mobility in Hong Kong

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In a move to revolutionize urban air mobility (UAM) technology, EHang, a Chinese company specializing in unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with KC Smart Mobility and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. The collaboration, aimed at advancing research and development in Hong Kong, seeks to promote sustainable transportation solutions in the city.

The partnership between EHang, KC Smart Mobility, and Cyberport will leverage EHang’s expertise in UAM technology, KC Smart Mobility’s knowledge in intelligent logistics and public transportation, and Cyberport’s digital infrastructure. This collaboration aims to integrate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with Hong Kong’s infrastructure to drive innovation in smart mobility and logistics.

Cyberport Chairman Simon CHAN Sai-ming highlighted the importance of the low-altitude economy as a key innovation area supported by the government. The collaboration aims to drive technological innovation and enhance Hong Kong’s position in strategic emerging industries.

Mr. Wong Leung Pak, Chairman of Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings Limited, expressed the company’s commitment to investing in eVTOL aircraft technology to promote the long-term development of the low-altitude economy in Hong Kong. The partnership aims to establish industry safety standards and prepare for full commercialization.

Earlier this year, EHang and KC Smart Mobility signed a cooperation agreement to deploy EH216-S autonomous manned aerial vehicles in Hong Kong, Macao, and cities in Hubei province. The showcase of the EH216-S at the Super Terminal Expo demonstrated the potential of advanced air mobility solutions in the region.
