Facelifted Tesla Model Y sees expected delivery date in China moved up to later this month from Mar

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is set to start delivering the facelifted Model Y in China this month, ahead of schedule. The model has received regulatory approval and is now ready for customers to receive their orders.

The updated Tesla website in China indicates that deliveries of the facelifted Model Y will commence in late February. The Launch Series, which is currently available for a limited time until February 28, is up for sale.

The facelifted five-seat Model Y was introduced in China on January 10, with two variants known as the Launch Series. Initially, it was anticipated that deliveries would begin in March, pending regulatory approval.

However, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China recently released a catalog of models eligible for purchase tax reductions, with the facelifted Model Y included. This indicates that the model has completed the necessary regulatory process for sales in China.

The facelifted Model Y is available in three different product models, each equipped with varying battery pack capacities and range capabilities. The Launch Series in China offers two variants, including a rear-wheel drive version starting at RMB 263,500 ($36,280) and a long-range all-wheel drive version starting at RMB 303,500.

The competition in the SUV market in China is heating up, with Xiaomi’s YU7 emerging as a potential rival to the Model Y. Xiaomi has filed for both dual-motor and single-motor versions of the YU7, which boast an impressive CLTC range of up to 820 km.

As the revamped Model Y hits the market in China, consumers can expect a range of options to choose from in the electric vehicle segment. With Tesla leading the charge and competitors like Xiaomi entering the arena, the EV market in China is only set to grow and evolve in the coming years.
