Geely Auto, a prominent Chinese automaker, has reported impressive sales figures for the month of August. The company sold a total of 250,167 vehicles during this period, marking a significant increase of 38.04% compared to the same month last year. This achievement is particularly commendable as it represents the second-highest monthly sales record for Geely Auto, only surpassed by the exceptional performance in January when 266,737 units were sold.
A major contributor to this success was the Geely Galaxy sub-brand, which recorded a remarkable 172.59% year-on-year surge in sales, reaching a record-breaking 110,666 units in August. Geely Galaxy, which was initially introduced as a new product lineup in February 2023 and later upgraded to a standalone brand in March this year, has been instrumental in driving the company’s overall sales growth.
In addition to Geely Galaxy’s outstanding performance, the company also witnessed substantial growth in its electric vehicle segment. Both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) sales experienced nearly 100% growth in August compared to the same period last year. BEV sales totaled 93,362 units, reflecting a 98.47% increase year-on-year, while PHEV sales reached 53,985 units, marking an 89.81% rise compared to August 2024.
Furthermore, Geely Auto’s export figures for August stood at 36,077 vehicles, indicating a slight decline of 19.91% year-on-year but a modest increase of 2.28% from the previous month. On the domestic front, the company reported sales of 214,090 units in China, representing a significant 57.21% increase year-on-year and a 5.75% rise from July.
Overall, Geely Auto’s robust sales performance in August underscores the company’s strong market presence and consumer demand for its diverse vehicle offerings. With Geely Galaxy leading the way and a growing focus on electric vehicles, Geely Auto continues to solidify its position as a key player in the automotive industry.
