Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand of Geely Auto (HKG: 0175), has recently announced the launch of its new M9 model in China, setting a new standard for the large hybrid SUV market with its aggressive pricing strategy. The M9, which began pre-sales on August 23, is scheduled to be officially launched on September 17 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

The M9, a six-seat SUV, made its global debut in Milan, Italy, on May 22. It is built on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) and utilizes the next-generation Leishen EM Super Hybrid system. With six variants starting at just RMB 193,800 ($27,130), the M9 has already received over 40,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours of pre-sales.

One of the standout features of the M9 is its competitive pricing compared to other models in the market. Despite offering comparable dimensions to Li Auto’s Li L9 EREV, the M9 is priced at half the cost, making it an attractive option for consumers looking for a budget-friendly large SUV.

The M9 boasts an industry-first AI-driven automotive cockpit, known as Agent OS, which enhances the driving experience with advanced technology. It also offers two battery pack options – 18.4-kWh and 41.46-kWh – with impressive CLTC and WLTC ranges. With a full tank and fully charged battery, the M9 can achieve a combined range of up to 1,500 kilometers, making it more fuel-efficient than traditional sedans.

In terms of performance, the M9 comes in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, with the most powerful variant delivering a peak power of 640 kW (859 horsepower) and peak torque of 1,165 Nm. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds, providing a thrilling driving experience for users.

Geely Galaxy’s success with the M9 is indicative of its overall growth in recent months. The brand sold a record-breaking 110,666 units in August, marking a significant year-on-year increase and contributing to Geely Auto’s overall sales success. With the launch of the M9 and its innovative features, Geely Galaxy is poised to make a significant impact on the large hybrid SUV market in China.

The official launch of the M9 is set to take place on September 17, and consumers can expect even more competitive pricing as the model hits the market. With its advanced technology, impressive performance, and budget-friendly pricing, the Geely Galaxy M9 is set to redefine the large hybrid SUV segment in China.
