Great Wall Motors’ Haval plant in Pakistan recently celebrated a significant milestone as they completed the production of their 10,000th locally assembled car on October 15. Contrary to some reports, the 10,000th car off the production line was not a hybrid but an HEV version of the popular Haval H6. This marks a significant achievement for the plant, which began production in collaboration with Sazgar in September 2022.
The production lineup currently includes the Haval Jolion and the Haval H6 HEV, making it the first hybrid vehicle to be produced in Pakistan. Great Wall Motors has been making a mark in the Pakistani market, with sales totaling 6,656 units between January and September this year. In addition to the Haval models, the company also launched the Ora Good Cat, Lightning Cat, and a mild hybrid version of the Tank 500 this year.
The ceremony marking the production of the 10,000th vehicle was attended by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, who commended Sazgar for their technological advancements. He praised Great Wall Motors for their contribution to the local automotive industry, stating that they have significantly improved the quality of life for the people of Pakistan by transitioning towards new energy vehicles.
Vice President of Great Wall Motor International, Yang Weiqi, reiterated the company’s commitment to launching products that cater to the specific needs of local markets around the world. The Haval plant, located in Lahore, has been a key player in the Pakistani automotive market, with the Haval H6 HEV leading the market in 2023-24.
The achievement was covered by various sources including Autohome, The Friday Times, and The Nation. The production of the 10,000th vehicle signifies a major milestone for Great Wall Motors and Sazgar Engineering, highlighting their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry.
