Hyundai is gearing up to unveil its latest electric vehicle, the IONIQ 2, which is set to be a more affordable option compared to its popular IONIQ 5. A sneak peek of the IONIQ 2 was recently captured near Hyundai’s tech center, giving enthusiasts a glimpse of what’s to come.

The South Korean automaker has been making strides in the electric vehicle market with the success of its Inster EV, a budget-friendly electric car that has been a top seller in Germany. Building on this momentum, Hyundai is expanding its IONIQ lineup with the introduction of the IONIQ 2, which will slot in between the Inster EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.

Scheduled to be revealed at the Munich Motor Show next month, the IONIQ 2 is expected to hit the market by mid-2026. While camouflaged prototypes have been spotted in the past, a recent video from CarSpyMedia offers a closer look at the new EV in action.

The IONIQ 2 is said to feature a more SUV-like design compared to its predecessors, with redesigned LED headlights and other updated styling elements borrowed from the IONIQ 6. Inside, the cabin will see a significant upgrade with new software, features, and an enhanced infotainment system.

Like other electric vehicles in Hyundai’s lineup, the IONIQ 2 will be based on the E-GMP platform and is likely to offer multiple battery pack options for varying range capabilities. It is also expected to share some components and styling cues with Kia’s upcoming EV2, which is set to launch ahead of the IONIQ 2.

While pricing details have not been officially announced, the IONIQ 2 is expected to start at around 30,000 euros, making it a competitive option in the affordable EV segment. Unfortunately, the IONIQ 2 is not expected to be available in the US, as Hyundai focuses on expanding its SUV lineup and increasing production at its Georgia EV plant.

Overall, the IONIQ 2 presents an enticing option for those looking for a budget-friendly electric vehicle with modern features and styling. Would you consider purchasing the Hyundai IONIQ 2 for around $35,000? Let us know your thoughts on this upcoming EV from Hyundai.
