FAW Hongqi to Launch Tiangong 08 All-Electric SUV
FAW Hongqi has officially announced that their highly anticipated all-electric mid-to-large SUV, the Tiangong 08, is set to launch on January 7. The model, which was unveiled at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, is now available for pre-order starting at 239,800 yuan (approximately 32,850 USD).
The Tiangong 08 features Hongqi’s distinctive split-headlight front fascia with a sleek black trim connecting the upper light clusters. The SUV is equipped with hidden door handles, a red side-flag emblem that integrates side-view cameras, and a striking full-width taillight design with L-shaped elements that define its exterior styling.
Constructed on Hongqi’s Tiangong pure electric platform and Jiuzhang intelligent platform, the Tiangong 08 supports various vehicle types. The SUV boasts a low-temperature battery pack that retains 98% capacity at -10℃ and can charge up to 80% in just 5 minutes. Customers have the option to choose between single-tone or dual-tone body colors and select from tire sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Optional features include rooftop lidar, air suspension, and rear privacy glass.
Inside, the Tiangong 08 offers a luxurious five-seat layout with premium materials such as leather upholstery and wood grain accents. The dashboard features a unified digital instrument cluster and multimedia display. Button-operated door mechanisms replace traditional handles, while convenient amenities like wireless phone charging and a hollowed-out storage area enhance functionality. Additional features include a flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-focal AR-HUD, and a premium Dolby Atmos audio system.
The Tiangong 08 showcases Hongqi’s innovative “SimNav High-Level Intelligent Driving System,” which is powered by an end-to-end algorithm from DJI Automotive and the Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride SoC with 100 TOPS computational power. The system supports urban NOA and provides intelligent parking assistance.
Powertrain options for the Tiangong 08 include a 253 kW single-motor two-wheel drive and a dual-motor all-wheel drive with 202 kW front and 253 kW rear motors, reaching a top speed of 200 km/h. The SUV is available with battery choices including ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs. The 111 kWh ternary lithium battery provides a range of 730 km (CLTC) for the single-motor variant and 680 km (CLTC) for the dual-motor version. A battery replacement version will also be available, while details on the LFP battery remain undisclosed.
Furthermore, the Tiangong 08 will be marketed overseas as the Hongqi EHS7, with European pre-sales starting at 53,999 Euros (approximately 55,480 USD).
