Skoda to Unveil Powerful New Elroq vRS Electric Crossover
Skoda is gearing up to introduce the highly anticipated Elroq vRS, the second electric car from its sporting sub-brand. Set to be one of the company’s most powerful cars yet, the Elroq vRS will be officially revealed next week.
The unveiling is scheduled for Thursday morning, with a public debut at the Milan Design Week shortly after. The Skoda Elroq vRS will join the growing class of sporting electric crossovers, competing against models like the Mini Aceman JCW, Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica Veloce, and Abarth 600e.
A teaser image released by Skoda showcases the Elroq vRS in the signature Hyper Green paint, featuring contrasting black trim elements to set it apart from the standard model.
While specific technical details have yet to be disclosed, the Elroq shares its platform with the Volkswagen ID 3 and Cupra Born, hinting that the vRS variant may utilize similar powertrain components as the hot versions of those models.
Models like the Cupra Born VZ and Volkswagen ID 3 GTX, equipped with the powerful ‘AP550’ motor, can deliver up to 322bhp. This suggests that the Elroq vRS could offer impressive performance, potentially rivaling the Skoda Enyaq vRS with its 335bhp output.
With a focus on dynamic driving, the Elroq vRS is expected to deliver exhilarating acceleration, likely achieving speeds of under 6.0 seconds for the 0-62mph sprint.
Skoda’s vRS lineup continues to expand, with the Elroq vRS becoming the fourth model in the range alongside the Octavia, Enyaq, and Kodiaq variants. CEO Klaus Zellmer emphasized the importance of the vRS sub-brand, hinting at future additions to the fast model lineup.
While there are no official announcements regarding additional performance models, speculation suggests that a sportier version of the upcoming Skoda Epiq electric supermini could be in the works, potentially sharing components with the Volkswagen ID 2 GTI.
