Huawei Launches Automated Valet Parking Service at Shenzhen Airport

Shanghai (Gasgoo) – Huawei, in partnership with the Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center (SUTPC), has officially introduced the pilot operation of an automated valet parking service at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport. This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionize parking efficiency and enhance the overall travel experience for passengers through the use of intelligent driving technologies.

The implementation of Huawei’s Valet Parking Driver (VPD) function at Shenzhen Airport is the first of its kind in the world and aims to streamline the parking and vehicle-finding processes using advanced autonomous driving technology.

Shenzhen Airport, a key transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, handles over 60 million passengers annually, with thousands of vehicles entering and exiting its parking lots daily. To address this high demand for parking, the airport has adopted Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving solution, featuring the VPD function. This innovative feature allows vehicles to autonomously navigate to designated parking spaces or pick-up zones without the need for a driver. Passengers can monitor their vehicle’s status, location, and surroundings in real-time through a mobile app.

Passengers arriving at the airport can simply select a parking spot using their mobile app and proceed to the departure hall, while the VPD system takes care of parking the vehicle in the chosen space. The system is designed to avoid obstacles such as other cars and pedestrians, ensuring efficient parking for travelers. In case the selected spot is occupied, the vehicle will automatically search for an alternative space.

Upon their return, passengers can summon their vehicle to exit the parking space and drive to the pick-up area with just a tap on their mobile app.

Huawei, in collaboration with SUTPC and other partners, has successfully launched the first automated valet parking service at Shenzhen Airport, marking a significant milestone in the commercial application of vehicle-road-cloud integration. The company plans to expand the VPD system to various other settings, including high-speed train stations, residential communities, office buildings, and shopping malls.
