Huawei and SAIC Motor’s joint venture, Shangjie, is set to make waves in the electric vehicle market with the upcoming launch of the Shangjie H5. This new model is expected to be the most affordable option under Huawei’s HIMA business, catering to budget-conscious consumers looking for a high-quality electric vehicle.

The Shangjie H5 will come in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, offering customers flexibility in choosing the powertrain that best suits their needs. With a starting price anticipated to be below $25,000, the H5 is poised to be a game-changer in the affordable electric vehicle segment.

Measuring at 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm, the Shangjie H5 promises a spacious and comfortable driving experience. The BEV variant boasts an impressive CLTC range of up to 655 kilometers, while the EREV version offers a combined range of over 1,300 kilometers, providing ample range for daily commutes and longer trips.

Equipped with Huawei’s advanced ADS 4 assisted driving system, the Shangjie H5 prioritizes safety and convenience for drivers and passengers alike. This smart driving system, which offers four levels of capability, ensures a smooth and enjoyable driving experience for all.

Despite its affordable price tag, the Shangjie H5 does not compromise on quality or performance. Images circulating on social media suggest that the model could be priced between RMB 180,000 to RMB 230,000, making it a compelling option for budget-conscious consumers. Additionally, the Shangjie H5 is set to become the cheapest model under the HIMA umbrella, surpassing other affordable options like the Aito M5 and Luxeed S7.

Both Huawei and SAIC have high expectations for the Shangjie H5, with executives from both companies test-driving the model and expressing confidence in its success. With an initial investment of RMB 6 billion and plans for a dedicated factory in the future, Shangjie is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.

As the fifth automotive brand under the HIMA umbrella, Shangjie joins a lineup of successful models including the Aito M5, Aito M7, Luxeed S7, and more. With a focus on affordability, quality, and performance, the Shangjie H5 is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market and provide consumers with a compelling option for their transportation needs.
