Shangjie, the new automotive brand developed in partnership between Huawei and SAIC Motor, is set to launch its first model, the H5, in September. The SUV has completed its final regulatory procedures and will be available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.

The Shangjie H5 BEV offers an impressive CLTC range of up to 655 kilometers, while the EREV version boasts a total range exceeding 1,300 kilometers. The SUV will come equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 driver assistance system, which provides support for driving, parking, and safety scenarios.

Recently, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a regulatory catalog for public comment, featuring the Shangjie H5. This marks the final step in the regulatory process before the vehicle can be officially sold in China.

The Shangjie H5 comes in three versions – two BEV models (CSA6489YBEV1 and CSA6489YBEV2) and one EREV model (CSA6489YFSHEV1). The SUV measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It has a curb weight of 1,985 kilograms and a maximum speed of 190 kilometers per hour.

The Shangjie H5 BEV features a single motor with peak power of 150 kW and 180 kW for the two versions, using CATL’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The EREV model is equipped with a 1,498 ml engine as a range extender, with a peak motor power of 150 kW.

Shangjie is the fifth automotive brand under Huawei’s HIMA alliance, joining Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro. The brand was officially unveiled in April, with the goal of launching its first EV model in the fall.

While pricing information for the Shangjie H5 is not yet available, it is expected to be one of the more affordable models in Huawei’s lineup. Reports suggest that the starting price could be around RMB 150,000 ($20,890), making it the most budget-friendly option under the HIMA umbrella.

Overall, the Shangjie H5 represents a significant milestone for the Huawei-SAIC partnership, offering consumers a technologically advanced and environmentally friendly vehicle option. Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch date approaches.
