Hyundai Motor Company has recently unveiled the all-new Nexo hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show. This marks the first full revision of the model since its initial launch in 2018. The second-generation Nexo boasts a larger size and features improved fuel cell system and powertrain systems, including an upgraded motor that provides a driving range of over 700 km after a quick tank refill.

The new Nexo, which is built on the company’s Intium concept vehicle, offers a more spacious interior with advanced comfort features. It includes first-row “relaxation seats” and increased luggage capacity, making it a practical choice for families and long journeys. The SUV is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment system that supports over-the-air updates, a head-up display, and an AI-powered voice recognition system.

In terms of safety features, the new Nexo comes with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies such as lane-keeping assist and collision avoidance systems. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with nine airbags to ensure the safety of passengers and protect the hydrogen tank.

One of the key improvements in the new Nexo is its power output, which now stands at 190 kW compared to the previous model’s 135 kW. The SUV also features an 80 kW battery, an upgrade from the 40 kW unit in the previous version. The new fuel cell stack delivers 110 kW, a 16% increase from the previous model, and advancements in storage density have helped increase the capacity of the hydrogen tank.

Hyundai has made significant advancements in the fuel cell and power electronics systems, resulting in improved overall power output and performance of the new Nexo. With its cutting-edge technology and enhanced features, the second-generation Nexo is poised to set new standards in the hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV market.
