Ian Callum reinvents Jaguar C-X75 with new tech and plush interior

Ian Callum’s self-named design and engineering consultancy has recently unveiled a second road-legal Jaguar C-X75, marking a triumphant return for the supercar that was once axed due to economic constraints.

The C-X75, originally designed by Callum, was first showcased at the 2010 Paris motor show and approved for production in 2011. Unfortunately, the project was scrapped the following year amidst a global economic downturn.

Despite its untimely demise, the C-X75 gained fame for its appearance in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre, where it was featured as the signature car of the villain, Mr Hinx. Several stunt cars were created by Williams Advanced Engineering, utilizing a modified chassis and a powerful supercharged V8 engine.

Now, years later, Callum’s consultancy has brought back the C-X75 in all its glory. After modifying one of the existing collector’s cars to meet road legal standards, they have taken it a step further with a unique restoration project that aims to replicate the original production specifications.

One of the key enhancements made by Callum is the development of custom control electronics and software, allowing for two distinct drive modes tailored for road and track performance. The car now boasts an active aerodynamics package for improved stability, as well as a hydraulic nose lifter to navigate obstacles with ease.

The supercharged V8 engine has been paired with a modern seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, enhancing both power delivery and efficiency. The bodywork has been meticulously repainted and re-aligned, with modifications made to the rear lights for better illumination.

Inside, the cabin has been completely revamped to resemble the luxurious interiors of high-end hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron and Tourbillon. Three touchscreen displays with Apple CarPlay connectivity are integrated into the center console, while critical controls are conveniently placed on a roof-mounted console.

With these extensive upgrades and meticulous attention to detail, Callum has successfully brought the Jaguar C-X75 back to life, offering enthusiasts a glimpse of what could have been.
