IM Motors, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of SAIC Motor Corp, has officially launched its first model for local consumers in Thailand, marking the beginning of its expansion into overseas markets. The LS6 electric SUV has been rebranded as the IM6 in Thailand, with starting prices of THB 1,399,900 baht ($41,600) for the Premium version and THB 1,799,900 baht for the Performance version.

The Premium variant is equipped with a 75-kWh battery pack, while the Performance version comes with a 100-kWh pack, offering a range of 550 km and 634 km respectively. The pricing of the IM6 in Thailand is comparable to Xpeng’s G6 SUV and lower than Tesla’s Model Y in the same market.

Initially launched in China in October 2023, the IM LS6 has seen great success in the domestic market. IM Motors introduced an updated version of the LS6 in China in September 2024, offering five different variants with varying prices. The company also recently shipped the first batch of LS6 electric SUVs to Thailand, signaling its commitment to expanding its presence in international markets.

Looking ahead, IM Motors plans to leverage the LS6 and L6 electric sedans as strategic global models to enter the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) market in regions such as Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, and the Middle East. This move aligns with the company’s goal of establishing a strong presence in key international markets and driving adoption of electric vehicles globally.

With a focus on innovation and sustainability, IM Motors is poised to make a significant impact in the global automotive industry. The launch of the IM6 in Thailand marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the company as it continues to expand its product portfolio and reach new markets with cutting-edge electric vehicles.
