Genesis is gearing up to introduce its most luxurious electric SUV to date, the GV90. This upcoming model will serve as the flagship full-size SUV for the luxury brand. Recent sightings of the Genesis GV90 with Magma design elements suggest that an even more upscale EV variant is in the works.
Last March, Genesis unveiled the Neolun concept, offering a glimpse of its forthcoming full-size luxury electric SUV. Drawing inspiration from Korean minimalist design, the Neolun concept embodies Genesis’ vision of ultra-luxe luxury electric SUVs. Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ director of design, confirmed in an interview with AutoExpress that the Neolun concept will transition into production as the brand’s new flagship model.
The GV90 has been spotted in public on multiple occasions leading up to its official debut. In February, the first model featuring coach doors was captured in the wild. Genesis has stated that B-pillarless coach doors, which enhance interior space and luxury appeal, will likely be available on more premium trims.
Most recently, the GV90 was seen sporting Magma-colored accents, hinting at a potential high-performance variant in development. A video from HealerTV showcased a covered GV90 with Magma styling on a carrier in Korea. While official confirmation is pending, Genesis has expressed intentions to introduce a range-topping Magma variant for each vehicle in its lineup.
Last year, Genesis unveiled the GV60 Magma alongside the Neolun concept, marking the brand’s venture into the realm of high-performance vehicles. Other Genesis Magma models include the G80, G80 EV, G70, GV80 Coupe, X Gran Berlinetta, and X Gran Racer concepts.
The GV90 is expected to be officially unveiled later this year, with production slated to commence in early 2026. Hyundai will manufacture the flagship luxury electric SUV at its Ulsan plant in Korea. Riding on the new eM platform, the GV90 will replace Hyundai’s current E-GMP platform. Stay tuned for more information on pricing and specifications as they become available.
