Kia EV4 test drive reveals the good, the bad, and the ugly

Kia has recently unveiled its first electric sedan, the EV4, in Korea, and now the vehicle is undergoing test drives to see if it lives up to the hype. The EV4 promises to set a new standard in electric vehicles with its long-range capabilities, fast charging, and sleek design.

One of the standout features of the EV4 is its unique, almost sports-car-like profile, with a long-tail silhouette and a roof spoiler. Kia describes it as “the new look of a sedan fit for the era of electrification.” Despite being a four-door sedan, Kia is positioning it as a new type of sedan altogether.

In terms of efficiency, the EV4 boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.23, making it Kia’s most aerodynamic vehicle to date. This aerodynamic design enables maximum driving range and efficiency.

The EV4 is available with two battery options: 58.2 kWh and 81.4 kWh. The entry-level model, powered by the 58.2 kWh battery, offers up to 237 miles of driving range, while the long-range variant, starting at 46.29 million won ($31,800) in Korea, can go up to 331 miles on a single charge.

Charging speeds for the EV4 are impressive, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in around 29 minutes with a maximum charging speed of 350 kW. The long-range battery will take slightly longer at around 31 minutes.

Inside the EV4, Kia has equipped it with the latest ccNC infotainment system featuring a 30″ Ultra-wide Panoramic Display. The setup includes dual 12.3″ driver displays, navigation screens, and a 5″ air conditioning panel.

Initial test drives of the EV4 reveal that the ride quality is smooth and comparable to Kia’s K5 sedan. However, on rough roads, the ride can feel a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the ride quality is described as “quite ordinary” with nothing particularly special about it.

One critique of the EV4 is that the rear window appears too low, and the rear brake lights protrude, obstructing the rearview. These issues may need to be addressed before the vehicle is launched globally.

Kia plans to launch the EV4 in Europe later this year and in the US in early 2026. In the US, the EV4 will come with a built-in NACS port for charging at Tesla Superchargers and a driving range of up to 330 miles (EPA-estimated). Pricing details will be announced closer to the launch, but the EV4 is expected to start at around $35,000 to $40,000.

So, would you consider buying Kia’s electric sedan for around $35,000, or would you opt for the Tesla Model 3, starting at $42,490 in the US with up to 363 miles of range? The world of online shopping has grown exponentially in recent years, with more and more people turning to the internet to purchase everything from groceries to clothing to electronics. With the convenience of being able to shop from the comfort of your own home and have items delivered right to your doorstep, it’s no wonder why online shopping has become so popular.

One of the biggest advantages of online shopping is the ability to compare prices and find the best deals. With just a few clicks, you can easily compare prices from different retailers and find the best price for the product you’re looking for. This makes it easy to save money and find great deals without having to spend hours driving from store to store.

Another advantage of online shopping is the wide variety of products available. With millions of retailers selling products online, you can find just about anything you’re looking for. Whether you’re looking for the latest fashion trends, rare collectibles, or hard-to-find electronics, you’re sure to find it online.

Online shopping also offers the convenience of being able to shop at any time of day or night. With most online retailers open 24/7, you can shop whenever it’s most convenient for you, whether that’s early in the morning or late at night. This is especially helpful for people with busy schedules or those who work unconventional hours.

In addition to convenience and variety, online shopping also offers the benefit of being able to read reviews from other customers. Before making a purchase, you can easily read reviews from other shoppers to see if the product is worth buying. This can help you make informed decisions and avoid purchasing products that may not meet your expectations.

While online shopping offers many advantages, there are also some drawbacks to consider. One of the biggest concerns with online shopping is the risk of fraud and identity theft. With so much personal information being shared online, there is a risk that your information could be stolen by hackers. To protect yourself, it’s important to only shop from reputable retailers and to use secure payment methods.

Overall, online shopping offers a convenient and easy way to shop for a wide variety of products. With the ability to compare prices, find great deals, and shop at any time of day, it’s no wonder why online shopping has become so popular. Just be sure to shop smart and stay safe while shopping online.
