The Kia EV9 GT: A Powerful and Stylish Electric SUV

The hotly anticipated Kia EV9 GT is set to make its debut in the UK this summer, starting at a price of £82,185. This electric SUV is not only stylish but also packs a punch in terms of performance.

With a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.6 seconds, the EV9 GT is one of the fastest seven-seaters in the UK market. Its dual-motor setup, with a 215bhp motor at the front and a 362bhp motor at the rear, delivers a total output of 502bhp – a significant upgrade from the current range-topper, the GT-Line S.

Compared to its competitors, the EV9 GT falls in line with the BMW iX xDrive60 and sits between the Porsche Macan Electric 4 and 4S versions. Only the Audi SQ7 and the Tesla Model X Plaid surpass the EV9 GT in terms of acceleration.

One standout feature of the EV9 GT is the simulated gearbox and engine sounds, borrowed from Kia’s sibling brand, Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N. This feature, controlled by paddles on the steering wheel, aims to enhance the driving experience for electric vehicle enthusiasts.

To ensure a dynamic driving experience, Kia has equipped the EV9 GT with electronic suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential. These enhancements, along with larger front brakes, improve handling and stopping power, making the EV9 GT a joy to drive.

Despite its performance capabilities, the EV9 GT offers a range of 280 miles on a single charge, slightly lower than the more efficient EV9 Air. This range, combined with its impressive power output, makes the EV9 GT a compelling option for drivers seeking a balance of performance and efficiency in an electric SUV.
