Kia has officially launched the EV9 GT in South Korea, introducing a high-performance upgrade to its flagship electric SUV. Priced at just over $60,000, the EV9 GT boasts over 500 horsepower, a sporty new design, and a range of impressive features. Following its debut in Korea, the GT trim will soon make its way to the US, Europe, and other global markets.

The EV9 GT in South Korea is equipped with front and rear electric motors that deliver a combined output of up to 509 horsepower and 740 Nm of maximum torque. With a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, this high-performance model is powered by a fourth-gen 99.8 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 253 miles.

One of the standout features of the EV9 GT is its electronic suspension system, providing a stable and luxurious driving experience. Additionally, an electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD) actively controls driving power to the wheels, enhancing control and stability on the road.

To complement its performance capabilities, the EV9 GT also features a sporty design with active air flaps on the front bumper, GT-specific 21″ alloy wheels, neon brake calipers, and a blacked-out roof rack. The interior has been upgraded with new features, including second-row relaxation seats and third-row power reclining seats that can fold up for additional space.

The dedicated infotainment system in the EV9 GT offers an exclusive cluster theme only available on the GT model. Other interior enhancements include a premium Meridian sound system, digital side and center mirrors, and augmented reality navigation. The addition of Alcantara sports seats with suede seat backs in the front row, mood lamps in the back, and a dedicated e-ASD (electric vehicle-Active Sound Design) further elevate the premium feel of the interior.

In terms of pricing, the EV9 GT in Korea starts at 88.49 million won ($61,500), while a lower-priced “Standard” trim is available starting at 64.12 million won ($44,500). The GT trim is expected to arrive in North America, Europe, and other global markets later this year, with a price tag slightly higher than the current top-spec EV9 GT-Line model.

For those interested in the EV9 but can’t wait for the loaded GT trim, the federal tax credit of $7,500 still applies in the US. Leases for the three-row electric SUV start as low as $399 per month, making it a compelling option for those in the market for an electric vehicle.
