Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) has officially unveiled its latest offering, the Lafa 5, at the IAA Mobility auto show in Munich, Germany. The company has also commenced pre-sales of the hatchback in its home market of China. The Lafa 5 will be officially launched in China in the fourth quarter of this year, with deliveries set to begin in the first half of 2026. Global sales of the model are expected to kick off in 2026.

The Lafa 5 is a sporty hatchback that has been tuned by Stellantis’ European team. Leapmotor is positioning the Lafa 5 as the “Dream Car” for young people worldwide. Stellantis announced a significant investment of €1.5 billion in Leapmotor back in October 2023, becoming the EV maker’s largest external shareholder with a 20 percent equity stake.

The Lafa 5 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4,430 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. This places it squarely in the competitive electric hatchback segment, where it will go head-to-head with models like the Volkswagen ID.3, SAIC MG4, BYD Dolphin, and Nio Inc’s Firefly EV.

In addition to the Lafa 5, Leapmotor has also officially launched its B10 compact SUV in Europe. Priced between RMB 99,800 ($14,000) and RMB 129,800 in China, the B10 starts at €29,900 ($35,050) in Europe. Leapmotor’s current lineup in China includes the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16. While the T03, B01, and B10 are exclusively battery electric vehicles (BEVs), the other models also offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.

Leapmotor has been on a roll in terms of deliveries, with the company achieving a record-high of 57,066 vehicle deliveries in August. This marks the fourth consecutive month of record-high deliveries for the company. Leapmotor has also announced that it has secured 14,556 locked-in orders since the beginning of the month.

With the launch of the Lafa 5 and the continued success of its existing lineup, Leapmotor is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on this innovative automaker and its exciting new offerings.
