The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has included the Leapmotor B01 in its new regulatory catalog for public review, with feedback being accepted from April 17-23. This step is crucial in the process of allowing a model to be sold in China.
The Leapmotor B01 is set to be the second model in the B-series, following the recent release of the B10 sedan. The B01 is designed to be a more affordable option compared to the C-series models, with a focus on attracting a wider range of consumers. The B01 measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. It is slightly smaller in dimensions compared to the C01 sedan, offering a more compact and agile driving experience.
The B01 features a curb weight ranging from 1,625 kg to 1,711 kg, depending on the configuration, and is capable of reaching a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The model is equipped with a single electric motor, with options for peak power outputs of 132 kW and 160 kW. The B01 is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from reputable manufacturers such as Gotion High-tech, CALB, and Zenergy. Additionally, the model supports the option of LiDAR technology for advanced safety features.
Leapmotor has set ambitious sales targets for the B-series, aiming to achieve monthly sales of over 40,000 units. The company is confident in the appeal of the B-series models and expects strong demand from consumers. In March, Leapmotor reported a significant increase in deliveries, with a total of 37,095 vehicles sold. The company’s founder and CEO, Zhu Jiangming, has projected sales of 500,000 to 600,000 units for 2025, building on the success of the previous year.
