Li Auto, a major player in the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market in China, has just achieved a significant milestone by reaching the one millionth vehicle delivery mark. This comes just three days after the company’s one millionth vehicle rolled off the assembly line.
The journey to this milestone took Li Auto 58 months, making it the first of the new Chinese car-making brands to achieve this feat. The company announced this achievement today on Weibo, showcasing its rapid growth and popularity in the market.
In September alone, Li Auto delivered a record-breaking 53,709 vehicles, bringing its total cumulative deliveries to 975,176 vehicles since its inception. This means that the company has already delivered 24,824 vehicles so far this month, showcasing its strong momentum and consumer demand.
Founded in July 2015, Li Auto released its first model, the Li One EREV, in October 2018. Deliveries began in December 2019, and the company has since seen significant growth in its vehicle deliveries. The Li One model has been discontinued after achieving cumulative deliveries of over 210,000 units.
Currently, Li Auto focuses on selling L-series EREVs, including models like the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9, all of which are SUVs. In March 2024, the company expanded its offerings with the launch of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega MPV.
The company has been on a steady growth trajectory, achieving milestones like reaching 10,000 units in June 2020, 100,000 units in November 2021, and 700,000 units in March 2024. The third quarter of 2024 saw Li Auto deliver a record 152,831 vehicles, up 45.4 percent year-on-year.
In the first nine months of 2024, Li Auto delivered a total of 341,812 vehicles, marking a nearly 40 percent increase compared to the previous year. The company’s strong performance and expansion into new vehicle models indicate its growing presence in the Chinese electric vehicle market.
Li Auto’s growth is further supported by its plans to establish a chip R&D office in Hong Kong, with reports suggesting that a self-driving chip could soon be mass-produced. These developments position Li Auto as a key player in the future of electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology.
As Li Auto continues to innovate and expand its offerings, its one millionth vehicle delivery milestone serves as a testament to its success and growing impact in the electric vehicle industry.
