Li Auto is set to launch a new variant of its popular Li Mega MPV, known as the Li Mega Home, which is expected to come at a lower price point than the existing Li Mega Ultra. Both variants are scheduled to begin deliveries in May, offering customers more options to choose from.

The updated Li Mega Ultra will officially go on sale on April 23, maintaining the same starting price as during the pre-sales period at RMB 529,800 ($72,350). Alongside the Ultra variant, Li Auto will introduce the new Home variant, catering to families with specific needs and preferences when it comes to a multi-purpose vehicle.

“The Li Mega Home family special edition embodies our latest vision for accommodating large families in a comfortable and practical manner,” stated Li Auto on Weibo. Interested buyers can start booking the Li Mega Home variant now, although pricing details have not been disclosed yet. However, the company’s website suggests that the Li Mega Home may come at a lower price point compared to the Ultra variant.

Deliveries for the Li Mega Home are expected to commence towards the end of May, while deliveries for the Li Mega Ultra are slated to begin in mid-May, according to information available on Li Auto’s website. The Li Mega was initially launched on March 1, 2024, with a starting price of RMB 559,800, which was later reduced to RMB 529,800 just two months after its launch.

Initially known as the Li Mega Max, the model underwent a nomenclature change to become the Li Mega Ultra in March 2024. The key updates in the latest version of the Li Mega focus on smart driving hardware enhancements, including an upgrade to the smart driving chip from two Nvidia Orin-X chips to a single Thor-U chip. This upgrade will enable support for Li Auto’s advanced autonomous driving architecture, MindVLA.

In 2024, a total of 10,798 units of the Li Mega were delivered, accounting for 2.16 percent of Li Auto’s total deliveries for the year. In the first quarter of this year, the Li Mega contributed 2.59 percent of Li Auto’s deliveries. With the introduction of the new Home variant and continued demand for the Ultra variant, Li Auto aims to expand its market reach and maintain its position as a leader in the electric vehicle segment.

As Li Auto sets its sights on achieving a sales target of 700,000 vehicles in 2025, representing a significant 40 percent growth, the launch of the Li Mega Home variant and the continued popularity of the Ultra variant are expected to play a crucial role in driving the company towards its ambitious goal.
