Luxeed R7 SUV exceeds 80,000 orders after about 6 months on market

The Luxeed R7, a collaborative effort between Huawei and Chery, made its debut on September 24, 2024, marking the second model under this partnership. This sleek SUV is available in both BEV and EREV versions, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model Y.

According to Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business, the Luxeed R7 has already garnered an impressive 80,000 firm orders. Luxeed is part of the HIMA family, joining other brands like Seres Group’s Aito, BAIC Group’s Stelato, and JAC’s Maextro.

Initially launched as a BEV model with a starting price of RMB 259,800 ($35,870), the Luxeed R7 expanded its lineup last December by introducing EREV variants starting at RMB 249,800. Both versions share the same dimensions, measuring 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

In terms of competition, the Luxeed R7 goes head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y. While the Luxeed R7 boasts similar dimensions to its rival, the Tesla Model Y measures slightly shorter in length and width but shares a comparable wheelbase.

The Luxeed brand’s first release was the Luxeed S7, an all-electric sedan that hit the market on November 28, 2023. Despite the lack of current sales figures for the Luxeed brand, the overwhelming demand for the Luxeed R7 signals promising growth and success for Huawei and Chery’s joint venture.

With firm orders exceeding expectations and consumer interest steadily rising, the Luxeed R7 is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive electric vehicle market. As this innovative collaboration continues to gain traction, the future looks bright for the Luxeed brand and its lineup of cutting-edge electric vehicles.
