The Maextro S800, a luxury sedan developed jointly by Chinese state-owned automaker Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) and Huawei Technologies Company under their Maextro brand, has officially entered mass production at the Maextro “Super Factory” in Feixi County, Hefei, China.

Launched at the end of May, the flagship S800 luxury sedan is positioned to rival models like the Mercedes-Benz Maybach. The company has already received over 5,000 confirmed orders for the vehicle, which is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configurations.

The production facility boasts more than 1,800 intelligent robots, ensuring full automation and digitalization across key processes including stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly. The S800 is offered in four variants – Starwave Premium, Starlight Premium, Starwave Executive, and Starlight Executive – priced between CNY 708,000 and CNY 1.018 million (US$ 985,000 and US$ 142,000).

Equipped with intelligent electric doors featuring millimeter-wave radar and solid-state LiDAR sensors, the S800 incorporates Huawei’s ADS 4.0 advanced driver-assistance system. This system operates on the newly-developed WEWA architecture, enabling quicker response times and smoother lane changes.

Powering the S800 are Huawei’s DriveOne 800V high-voltage silicon carbide electric motors. The dual-motor option delivers a peak output of 390 kW, while the three-motor models can reach up to 635 kW. EREV models offer an impressive range of 1,333 km, while BEV variants can travel up to 702 km on a single charge.

Looking ahead, Maextro plans to introduce the smaller S600 model soon. By the end of the year, the company aims to achieve a monthly production capacity of 4,000 units.
