Mercedes-AMG to Launch V8-Powered Track Rival to Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Mercedes-AMG is gearing up to unveil a V8-powered, track-focused competitor to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, with the aim of setting new record lap times.
The upcoming model will be previewed by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, which is based on the second-generation AMG GT that made its debut in 2023.
While Mercedes-AMG is actively working on its first electric AMG GT slated for release in 2027, the recent announcement confirms the brand’s continued focus on high-performance combustion engines.
This new flagship GT model is expected to succeed the AMG GT Black Series from 2022, which boasted an impressive 730bhp from a specially tuned version of AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine.
Although technical details of the new concept have not been disclosed yet, Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that it signals an “expansion of the GT series” featuring a V8 powertrain.
Considering the immense power output of the GT Black Series, it is anticipated that the production version of this concept will surpass it to become the most powerful series-production V8 ever.
Currently, the most potent variant in the second-generation GT lineup is the 603bhp track-oriented Pro model.
