Mercedes-Benz Group wrapped up 2024 with a total of 2,389,000 units sold, marking a 4% decrease from the previous year. This decline was primarily attributed to a drop in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, which fell by 22% to 204,600 units.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Mercedes-Benz Group managed to sell 625,800 units, representing a 2% decline compared to the same period in 2023. BEV sales in Q4 totaled 56,100 units, a 24% decrease from the previous year.
Mercedes-Benz Cars reported sales of 1,983,400 units in 2024, showing a 3% decline from 2023. Of these, 185,100 units were BEVs, marking a 23% decrease from the previous year. Additionally, 367,600 xEVs were sold, a 9% decrease from 2023.
Ola Källenius, chairman of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group, emphasized the brand’s resilience in 2024, highlighting the success of their Top-End and Core vehicles in the fourth quarter. He also mentioned the company’s commitment to strengthening its product portfolio with a significant product offensive, starting with the launch of the all-new CLA.
In terms of segment performance, Mercedes-Benz Cars witnessed a 14% YoY decline in the Top-End segment, with 281,500 units sold, while the Core segment experienced a 6% YoY increase with 1,167,100 units sold. The Entry segment saw a 14% YoY decrease, with 534,800 units sold.
In Europe, Mercedes-Benz Cars reported a 3% YoY decline in sales, with 641,800 units sold. Sales in Germany specifically dropped by 9% YoY, with 213,500 units sold.
Mercedes-Benz Vans also faced a challenging year in 2024, selling 405,600 units, a 9% decline from 2023. The eVans segment accounted for 19,500 units, reflecting a 14% decrease from the previous year. In Q4 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 105,700 units, a 15% decrease from Q4 2023, with eVans sales totaling 6,900 units, a 10% decrease from the same period in 2023.
Overall, despite facing some setbacks in sales figures, Mercedes-Benz Group remains focused on innovation and product development to drive future growth and success in the automotive industry.
