MG Confirms Production of Fixed-Roof Cyberster GTS Sports Car
MG has officially announced its plans to bring the four-seat hard-top version of the Cyberster sports car into production. The Cyberster GTS, which was previously unveiled as a running prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, is now set to hit the market soon.
Despite initial speculations that the Cyberster GTS could be launched as early as this year, there had been no confirmation on a release date until now. However, MG has revealed at the Shanghai motor show that a production version of the fixed-roof Cyberster is on its way and could potentially arrive in time for the 60th anniversary of the original MG B GT in October.
SAIC’s design chief, Jozef Kaban, who was behind the Cyberster concept, mentioned that the positive reception of the prototype played a significant role in MG’s decision to proceed with production. He stated, “It’s coming,” hinting at the imminent arrival of the highly anticipated sports car.
During the unveiling of the new MG Cyber X concept at the Shanghai motor show, Kaban expressed his excitement about expanding the Cyber model family with both the Cyberster and Cyber X. He emphasized the Cyberster’s role as a flagship model for MG, describing it as a vehicle that exudes joy and captures attention wherever it goes.
With the addition of the Cyberster GTS, MG’s Cyber brand is poised to offer a diverse three-car lineup, catering to different preferences and styles. The contrast between the sleek sports car and the bold electric crossover Cyber X suggests that there is room for further expansion within the Cyber range.
As MG continues to evolve and innovate, the upcoming launch of the Cyberster GTS marks a significant milestone in the brand’s journey towards delivering exciting and distinctive vehicles that resonate with automotive enthusiasts.
