Micro Unveils Open-Roofed Microlino Spider Concept

Micro has recently revealed a new open-roofed version of its Microlino electric quadricycle, known as the Spider. This unique vehicle is designed to offer a more characterful alternative to traditional golf carts, with its roof and side panels removed for easy access.

The Spider takes inspiration from classic models like the Citroën Méhari, Fiat 500 Jolly, and Mini Moke, featuring a canvas roof panel for shade rather than full weather protection. The interior of the Spider is finished with a wooden steering wheel and wood paneling along the exposed sills, adding a touch of elegance to the design.

While the Microlino Spider is currently a concept car, Micro plans to bring it to market in the US after making necessary adjustments to meet local regulations. The company sees potential in the American market, where smaller vehicles like golf carts are commonly used for personal transport within neighborhoods.

Micro Chairman Wim Ouboter explained, “Americans don’t just drive large cars. That’s why we created the Microlino Spider as a compact and efficient option for everyday commuting, catering to the majority of trips where only one person is driving.”

In addition to the US market, the Microlino Spider is likely to find success in Europe as well, competing with electric models like the Electric Moke and Fiat Topolino. While the Microlino is already available as a soft-top convertible in Europe, the Spider model offers a unique open-air driving experience with its removed body sides.
