Aston Martin has recently unveiled the latest addition to its lineup, the DBX S, a high-performance variant of the popular DBX SUV. With a power output of 717bhp, the DBX S is now the most powerful non-electrified SUV on the market, outpunching its competitors with sheer engine power.
This new model marks a significant step for Aston Martin, as it is the first time the S badge has been applied to an SUV in its range. Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark describes the DBX S as a “powerful statement of intent”, indicating that lighter and more powerful variants will play a key role in the company’s future model plans.
Under the hood, the DBX S retains the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in the previous model but has been reworked for increased performance. The engine enhancements, including larger compressor wheel diameters borrowed from the Valhalla, result in a more powerful and urgent driving experience. The acceleration times have been improved, with the 0-124mph time now 0.3 seconds quicker than before.
In addition to the engine upgrades, Aston Martin has made several other improvements to the DBX S. A new exhaust system has been added for a louder engine sound, the steering ratio is 4% faster, and the turning circle has been reduced for improved maneuverability.
The DBX S stands out not only for its performance but also for its weight-saving features. Aston Martin has managed to trim up to 47kg compared to the previous model, with options like a carbon fiber roof, magnesium wheels, and a polycarbonate honeycomb grille contributing to the weight reduction.
Visually, the DBX S sports a new black grille design inspired by the DBS 770 Ultimate, along with other styling changes like a new splitter, diffuser, and side sills. Inside, the cabin features a bespoke S design with herringbone-patterned seats and optional luxury upgrades like Alcantara upholstery and a premium audio system.
The DBX S is now available for order, with deliveries expected to begin in the final quarter of 2025. While pricing details have yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be higher than the £205,000 price tag of the previous model.
