Jaguar’s Highly Anticipated Super-GT Prototype Spotted Testing Again
The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Jaguar’s first car of a new era, inspired by the Type 00 concept unveiled in December, has been spotted testing once again. This electric super-GT is set to rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan, boasting over 575bhp, a range exceeding 430 miles, and a price tag north of £100,000.
Scheduled to hit the roads next year, this super-GT is just the beginning of Jaguar’s electric revolution, with two more EVs slated for release by the end of the decade. These new models will be built on Jaguar’s brand-specific EV platform, JEA, signaling a shift towards a more sustainable future for the British marque.
The latest spy shots of the prototype, taken in snowy conditions near the Arctic Circle, reveal intriguing details about the car’s design. Notably, the lack of a rear window confirms a unique feature seen on the new Polestar 4. The rear end also showcases thin split rear lights and a sculpted design that mirrors the Type 00 concept unveiled last year.
One of the most striking elements of the design is the rear door, which features a small window and flares backwards above the rear wheel arch, creating a distinctive look. Additionally, the front end of the car displays the word ‘lorips,’ hinting at a placeholder text that will likely be replaced with a production name in the future.
Despite the heavy camouflage, it’s clear that this super-GT will be a large, low-slung saloon with a coupe-like roofline and a cab-rear silhouette reminiscent of Jaguar’s iconic models. The front end will feature a new lighting arrangement with ultra-slim LED strips, while the front grille panel is expected to be non-functional, showcasing a new design direction for electric Jaguars.
Inside, the focus will be on a minimalist and tech-heavy cabin, with touch controls and a wraparound infotainment interface dominating the dashboard. Rear passenger comfort will be a priority, with screens on the back of the front seats, USB-C charging ports, and the option for two separate rear seats instead of a bench.
As we eagerly await the official unveiling of the production version of this super-GT, Jaguar finds itself in a transitional phase. With production of all models except the F-Pace SUV winding down, the brand is on the cusp of a new chapter in its history. Stay tuned for more updates on Jaguar’s electrifying future.
