Skoda Unveils Near-Production Show Car for Epiq Electric SUV

Skoda is gearing up for the launch of its new electric SUV, the Epiq, set to hit the market in 2026. The company recently unveiled a near-production show car at the Munich motor show, giving a concrete glimpse of what’s to come.

The Epiq concept, which shares a platform, powertrain, and production line with the Volkswagen T-Cross and Cupra Raval, is Skoda’s answer to the Renault 4. This second iteration of the Epiq concept, which was first revealed last year, is expected to remain mostly unchanged when it hits showrooms.

Measuring 4.1m in length, the Epiq will be Skoda’s smallest electric SUV, positioned below the Elroq. Despite its compact size, the Epiq will comfortably seat five, offer a 475-litre boot capacity, and provide a range of 264 miles on a single charge.

Powered by a 208bhp motor on the front axle as standard, the Epiq is based on the MEB Entry architecture shared with other small VW Group EVs. A high-performance vRS version, potentially producing 223bhp, is also in the cards.

The Epiq boasts Skoda’s minimalist new Modern Solid design principles both inside and out. It features the brand’s new ‘Tech Deck’ face, T-shaped light signatures, chunky bumpers, and a unique ‘Cashmere’ paint color. Inside, the cabin is designed for practicality and usability, with ‘simply clever’ features like bag hooks and hidden cubbies.

Skoda plans to price the Epiq competitively with its petrol-powered counterpart, the Kamiq, starting at £25,000. This move underscores Skoda’s commitment to providing sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.

CEO Klaus Zellmer expressed Skoda’s vision for the Epiq, stating, “It embodies the essence of Skoda: modern solid design, a spacious interior within a compact footprint, user-friendly digital interfaces, and clever details that ensure a seamless experience – all at an attractive price point.”
