Toyota Unveils Sixth-Generation RAV4 with Striking New Look and Advanced Technology
Toyota has recently revealed the latest iteration of its popular RAV4 SUV, showcasing a bold new design and a significant upgrade in technological features.
The exterior of the new RAV4 boasts a more rugged and off-road-inspired appearance, reminiscent of earlier models. The boxier silhouette and robust wheel arches give it a distinctively adventurous look, resembling the iconic Land Cruiser. The updated hammerhead lights at the front and rear bring the RAV4 in line with the modern design language seen in Toyota’s Prius and C-HR models.
Stepping inside the RAV4, drivers will be greeted with a spacious cabin equipped with a new 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. This innovative system is the first to run on Toyota’s new Arene operating system, a standardized platform that will be implemented across all future Toyota vehicles. The Arene platform enables faster development of new features and allows for over-the-air updates, ensuring that drivers have access to the latest safety and entertainment technology without having to wait for a new model release.
One of the key advancements with the Arene platform is the introduction of new safety features, such as a rear-approach monitor designed to assist drivers when merging onto highways. Toyota envisions future functionalities like downloadable performance packs that can customize the driving experience to mimic different Toyota models, offering a tailored experience for every journey.
The new RAV4 will be available exclusively with plug-in hybrid powertrains in the UK. While specific details are yet to be confirmed, European customers can choose between a 264bhp front-wheel-drive or a 300bhp four-wheel-drive option. The top-tier PHEV variant can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds and has an impressive electric range of up to 62 miles. Charging the 22.7kWh battery is convenient, with fast-charging capabilities allowing for a 10-80% charge in just 30 minutes on a DC connection.
