Nio, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, saw a significant increase in the use of its battery swap service in October. A total of 27,707 Nio customers utilized the service for the first time during the month, highlighting the growing popularity and convenience of this offering.
The company added 65 new battery swap stations in China in October, bringing the total number of facilities to 2,621 by the end of the month. These new stations are part of Nio’s latest fourth-generation battery swap stations, with 21 of them strategically located along highways for easy access.
With 2,632 battery swap stations now available across China, Nio is ensuring that about 80.4 percent of its owners can find a station within 3 kilometers of their home or office. In October alone, the company provided a total of 2,447,325 battery swap services, averaging about 78,946 swaps per day.
On average, each Nio user made use of the battery swap service four times in October, with each swap taking approximately three minutes. Nio reported that this service saved users an impressive 3 hours and 48 minutes per month compared to traditional charging methods.
In addition to the battery swap service, Nio also expanded its charging infrastructure in October by adding 350 charging piles. As of the end of the month, the company had 4,077 charging stations in China, offering a total of 23,969 charging piles and 1,659 destination charging stations with 12,882 chargers.
Nio has been actively promoting its charging services to non-Nio-branded electric vehicles, with 80 percent of the orders in October servicing vehicles from other brands. The company’s charging facilities have so far catered to over 200 different EV brands, showcasing its commitment to promoting electric mobility on a broader scale.
Moreover, Nio provided 11,089 battery upgrades in October, bringing the total number of upgrades to 316,124. The company’s continuous efforts to enhance its services and expand its infrastructure have contributed to its strong performance in vehicle deliveries. In October, Nio delivered a total of 20,976 vehicles, marking the sixth consecutive month with deliveries exceeding 20,000 units.
The company’s main brand delivered 16,657 vehicles, while its sub-brand Onvo delivered 4,319 vehicles, reflecting a significant increase in Onvo’s performance. Nio has been actively expanding its battery swap stations to support the Onvo brand, with plans to have 1,000 stations available by the end of the year.
