Firefly, NIO’s Third Brand, Set to Launch Right-Hand Drive Vehicles in the UK

Recent reports have revealed that Firefly, NIO’s third brand, is gearing up to introduce right-hand drive (RHD) versions of its vehicles in the UK market, with an expected launch date set for October this year. The brand, which currently offers two models in China priced between 119,800 to 125,800 RMB, will leverage NIO’s existing sales, delivery, and service network to cater to customers in the UK.

The Firefly’s exterior design showcases biomimicry elements, with a unique “trio” headlight design featuring three circular light rings that enhance visibility when illuminated. The vehicle also boasts a spacious 92-liter front trunk (frunk) with layered storage and drainage features, significantly increasing its storage capacity. In terms of dimensions, the compact car measures 4003mm in length, 1781mm in width, and 1557mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2615mm.

The side profile of the Firefly highlights a two-tone body with blacked-out A and B pillars, while the C-pillar seamlessly connects with the roof, creating a personalized appearance. Equipped with 215/50 R18 two-tone multi-spoke wheels, the rear of the vehicle mirrors the “trio” light cluster design and includes a roof spoiler for added style. Consumers can choose from five exterior colors: Inspiration Purple, New Life Green, Leisurely Beige, Pure White, and Exploration Grey.

Inside, the Firefly features a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a large floating central control screen, and a full LCD instrument cluster to cater to the preferences of young consumers. All soft-touch interior materials meet safety standards certified for infant and maternal products. The car offers four interior color options and two interior material choices, providing a customizable experience for buyers.

With a class-leading minimum turning radius of 4.7 meters and full-scene automatic parking functionality, the Firefly promises a seamless driving and handling experience. In May, the brand reported 3,680 new vehicle deliveries in its first full month of sales, with a total of 3,911 new vehicle deliveries to date.

During the Shanghai Auto Show in April, Pu Yang, Head of Brand Marketing for Firefly, announced the brand’s plans to enter 16 countries in 2025, targeting markets with a demand for compact and intelligent vehicles. Among these countries, seven are in Europe, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, and Romania.

As a battery-powered electric compact car, Firefly is poised to compete with upcoming models like the Volkswagen ID.2 and Renault 5 in the European market. These compact hatchback models are known for their compact size and vibrant exterior colors, making them attractive choices for urban commuters and environmentally-conscious consumers.
