Nio’s Firefly EV has once again proven its commitment to safety by achieving a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. This latest recognition in Europe follows the car’s top score in China’s crash test at the end of July.
In the latest Euro NCAP test, the Firefly EV scored an impressive 96 percent for occupant protection, the highest among all models evaluated. The car also received high marks for child safety (87 percent), pedestrian protection (82 percent), and safety assist systems (86 percent), demonstrating exceptional overall safety performance.
This achievement comes on the heels of the Firefly EV receiving all G or higher G+ ratings in China’s C-IASI evaluation, solidifying its position as the safest compact car in the assessment. Nio’s president of the Firefly brand, Daniel Jin, emphasized the brand’s commitment to building the safest small cars for global users, despite the challenges posed by cost and size constraints.
The Firefly brand was officially launched at Nio Day 2024, with the Firefly model making its debut in China in April 2025. Deliveries of the Firefly began in China in April and expanded to Norway and the Netherlands in August, marking the brand’s entry into the international market.
Nio’s overall vehicle deliveries reached a new record in August, with 31,305 units delivered. The Firefly contributed significantly to this milestone, with 4,346 units delivered in August alone, bringing total deliveries to 14,555 units.
Looking ahead, Nio may introduce a special edition Firefly EV in China, based on the European version, at Nio Day 2025 in September. This continued focus on innovation and safety solidifies Nio’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
