A new spy photo has recently surfaced, giving us a sneak peek into the interior of Nio’s upcoming sub-brand Firefly. The image reveals that the interior design of Firefly closely resembles that of Nio-branded models, featuring a large horizontal center screen and a smaller dashboard screen.
The horizontal center screen in Firefly’s interior is a departure from the vertical screen layout seen in existing Nio-branded models, such as the ET9 and Onvo L60. This design choice aligns with Nio founder William Li’s announcement that upcoming models and facelifts would feature horizontal screens.
The spy shot also showcases a light-colored interior theme for the Firefly vehicle, with a steering wheel design that mirrors the current Nio models. This attention to detail in design continuity highlights Nio’s commitment to delivering a cohesive and premium user experience across its brand and sub-brands.
Nio officially introduced the Firefly brand at Nio Day 2024, positioning it as a competitor to BMW Mini and Mercedes-Benz’s Smart in the global market. The first model under the Firefly brand shares the same name and is marketed as a premium boutique small car.
Pre-sales for the Firefly model began in China in December 2024, with a price tag of RMB 148,800 yuan ($20,360). The vehicle is slated for an April release, offering consumers a stylish and environmentally friendly electric vehicle option.
While previous spy photos provided limited insight into the Firefly model’s interior during its engineering stage, the latest image offers a more detailed look at the vehicle’s design elements. Additionally, a regulatory filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed core specifications for the Firefly model, including dimensions, weight, and powertrain details.
The Firefly model is powered by a single electric motor from Nio’s XPT electric motor division, delivering a peak power of 105 kW. It also features lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Sunwoda, marking the first collaboration between Nio and the battery supplier.
As we eagerly anticipate the official launch of the Firefly model, the upcoming regulatory catalog from the MIIT is expected to provide further insights into facelifted models from the Nio brand. With Nio’s continued innovation and commitment to delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles, the Firefly model is poised to make a significant impact in the automotive market.
Stay tuned for more updates on Nio’s Firefly brand and other exciting developments in the electric vehicle industry.
