Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio, has officially named its second model as the Onvo L90, contrary to earlier speculations of it being called the Onvo L80. The announcement was made by Onvo president Alan Ai during a live video stream with Charles Zhang, founder of Chinese news portal Sohu.
The Onvo L90 is set to be the brand’s flagship product, featuring a three-row seating layout and designed as a large SUV catering to the needs of large families. The company plans to unveil the L90 in the second quarter of this year, with an official launch scheduled for the third quarter.
This new model follows the successful launch of Onvo’s first model, the L60, which debuted in September 2024. Deliveries of the five-seat mid-size SUV began shortly after the launch. Nio’s founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, had previously hinted at the launch of a mid-to-large-size SUV from Onvo in 2025, promising a revolutionary product that would surprise consumers.
During an earnings call in November 2024, Li mentioned that Onvo would introduce two family SUVs in 2025, including a mid-to-large-size 6/7-seat SUV and a large 5-seat SUV. The second model, benchmarked against Li Auto’s Li L8 or Li L9, is expected to be released in the latter half of this year, as confirmed by Onvo vice president Xia Qinghua at a user event in January.
Speculations about the second model being named the L80 surfaced earlier this year when images from Onvo hinted at its imminent launch. However, recent spy shots shared by users on Xchuxing’s online community suggest that the model might be referred to as the Onvo L80, internally codenamed Blanc.
In January 2025, Onvo delivered 5,912 vehicles, bringing its total deliveries since September 2024 to 26,673. With the introduction of the Onvo L90, the brand is set to expand its portfolio and establish a stronger presence in the competitive SUV market.
