Nio’s sub-brand Onvo is gearing up to launch its second model, internally codenamed Blanc, as it enters the Tooling Trial phase. The Onvo L80 has completed trial production, as revealed in an image allegedly from Onvo, indicating that the launch is imminent.

He Lei, CEO of local automotive media outlet Xchuxing, shared the news on his site, stating that the L80 is almost ready for production. Once it enters the Tooling Trial phase, the start of production is not far off, according to He Lei.

Earlier this month, Onvo vice president Xia Qinghua disclosed that the brand’s second model is inspired by Li Auto’s Li L8 or Li L9. The new model is expected to hit the market in the second half of this year, promising to bring something fresh and exciting to customers.

Onvo made its debut with the launch of the L60 in September 2024, a five-seat mid-size SUV that received positive feedback. With a starting price of RMB 206,900 ($28,420), the L60 also offers a battery rental option, making it an attractive choice for customers.

Following the success of the L60, Nio founder William Li announced plans for Onvo to release a mid-to-large-size SUV in 2025. Describing it as a revolutionary product, Li hinted at surprises in store for customers and projected deliveries to begin in the third quarter of 2025.

Reports suggest that Onvo’s second model will be a six- or seven-seat SUV, set for release by the end of the first quarter of 2025. During a recent earnings call, Nio management confirmed plans to launch two SUV models in 2025, including a six- or seven-seater and a large five-seater, to expand Onvo’s presence in the SUV market.

With a focus on competitiveness and cost control, these new models are poised to rival Li Auto’s offerings and cater to a wide range of customers. As Onvo continues to innovate and expand its product lineup, it aims to establish a strong foothold in the competitive automotive market.

Stay tuned for more updates on Onvo’s upcoming models and their launch dates, as the brand sets its sights on delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles to consumers worldwide.
