Nissan Motor Company, a prominent Japanese automaker, recently reported a 5% decline in global sales for June 2025, with a total of 262,133 vehicles sold. This figure includes both Nissan and Infiniti-branded models, with sales weakening both domestically and overseas. In Japan, sales decreased by 3.7% to 35,035 units, while overseas deliveries dropped by 5.1% to 227,098 units.

Looking at the first half of 2025, Nissan’s global sales saw a 5.7% decline compared to the same period last year, totaling 1,613,797 units. Sales in Japan experienced a significant drop of over 10% to 220,420 units, while overseas sales also decreased by almost 5% to 1,393,377 units.

China emerged as the worst-performing major overseas market for Nissan in 2025, with sales plummeting by nearly 18% to 279,471 units. In Europe, sales fell by 4.1% to 187,832 units. However, there was a slight improvement in North America, with a 1.6% increase in deliveries to 678,393 units. This growth was driven by a 5% rise in Mexican sales and a nearly 10% increase in Canadian sales. Sales in other markets combined dropped by almost 6% to 247,681 units.

On the production front, global volumes decreased by almost 11% in the first half of 2025, totaling 1,439,040 units. Japanese production fell by over 11% to 291,773 units, while overseas production dropped by just under 11% to 1,147,267 units. Notably, Chinese output saw a significant 21% decline, while US production decreased by 15%. Mexican production, however, saw a slight increase.

Exports from Japan also witnessed a decline, falling by 18% to 158,859 units year-to-date. Shipments to North America and Europe saw significant drops, while exports to other markets increased by 14.5%.
