NIU, a prominent player in the smart electric scooter and micromobility industry, has just unveiled its latest offering – the NIU KQi 200F. This new lightweight commuter scooter is designed for riders who require a balance between portability and performance, featuring a unique folding handlebar design that sets it apart from the competition. This innovative feature was first introduced to NIU’s popular KQi scooter line last year and has now been incorporated into the KQi 200F model.

The standout feature of the NIU KQi 200F is its compactness, thanks to the foldable handlebars and stem. This design allows the scooter to easily fit into tight spaces such as office corners, public transit, or the trunk of a car. Unlike most electric scooters that can fold at the stem but still have wide handlebars that stick out, the KQi 200F boasts a slim profile with a deck measuring just 6.9 inches at its widest, making it easy to store in cramped quarters.

Under the hood, the KQi 200F is equipped with a 48V 7.8Ah battery providing 365Wh of stored capacity. This translates to a range of up to 33.6 miles on a single charge. The scooter is powered by a 350W rear hub motor that can peak at 700W with 22 Nm of torque, allowing it to tackle hills and reach a top speed of 20 mph. Compared to NIU’s KQi2 Pro scooter, the KQi 200F offers 7% more speed, 33% better hill climbing, 17% more power, and 38% more torque, along with a 35% increase in range.

Weighing 44 pounds, the KQi 200F is a reasonably lightweight scooter considering its performance capabilities. It can support riders up to 265 pounds and features 10 x 2.3-inch pneumatic tires for a smoother ride, along with a front suspension fork for added comfort. The scooter also boasts dual-wheel braking with a front disc brake and rear regenerative braking, providing enhanced stopping power with a stopping distance of just 14 feet at moderate speeds.

In terms of safety features, the KQi 200F is equipped with a bright LED headlight, taillight, and integrated side lighting for night-time visibility, as well as handlebar-mounted turn signals for increased safety on the road. The scooter can be connected to the NIU app via Bluetooth, allowing riders to lock the scooter remotely, customize riding modes, track rides, and monitor battery health. The LED dashboard display on the handlebars shows speed, battery level, and riding mode at a glance, while multiple grip tape options offer customization for the scooter’s aesthetics.

Priced at $799, the NIU KQi 200F is currently available at a discounted price of $699 during its launch, making it a competitive option in the mid-range electric scooter market. With its reputation as a major smart scooter company and a wide range of features and capabilities, NIU is poised to make a mark in the growing micromobility industry.
