Autonomous driving startup Pony AI (NASDAQ: PONY) has announced plans to introduce a robotaxi commuting service for staff at Hong Kong International Airport. The company aims to provide a convenient and efficient transportation solution within the airport premises, with future plans to expand its service to downtown Hong Kong.

Recently, Pony AI showcased its sixth-generation robotaxi in Hong Kong as part of a demonstration. The company highlighted the vehicle’s ability to operate in complex environments and adhere to traffic regulations, including driving on the left side of the road. This demonstration at Hong Kong International Airport underscored Pony AI’s commitment to advancing autonomous driving technology in real-world scenarios.

Pony AI is no stranger to providing autonomous transportation services, as it already offers fee-based self-driving robotaxi services at Beijing Daxing International Airport. Additionally, the company is conducting self-driving tests on key roadways leading to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. In the first half of 2024, Pony AI reported an average of over 15 orders per day per fully unmanned robotaxi, demonstrating the growing demand for autonomous transportation solutions.

In a strategic move to expand its global presence, Pony AI is actively exploring international markets in countries such as South Korea, Luxembourg, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The company’s recent IPO on the Nasdaq marked a significant milestone in the autonomous driving sector, further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.

Overall, Pony AI’s initiative to introduce robotaxi commuting services at Hong Kong International Airport reflects its dedication to revolutionizing transportation through autonomous driving technology. As the company continues to innovate and expand its reach, we can expect to see more advancements in the field of autonomous transportation in the near future.
