Porsche has made a groundbreaking announcement for its EV owners, revealing that they will now have access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. This development will come into effect on September 9th, allowing Porsche customers to utilize over 23,500 Supercharger stations across North America through a Porsche-supplied NACS DC adapter.
This move signifies a significant convenience for Porsche EV drivers, granting them access to one of the most reliable and widespread fast-charging networks in the United States. Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, expressed the brand’s commitment to enhancing the ownership experience for their customers, stating that this news represents a significant step for owners of their electrified vehicles.
The rollout of access to the Supercharger network will begin with Model Year 2026, with all new Taycan and Macan Electric models shipping with the NACS DC adapter included at no extra charge. For existing owners of Model Year 2025 Taycan or any Macan Electric models, Porsche will provide the adapter free of cost. Older Porsche EVs will have the option to purchase the adapter for $185, with availability listed as “coming soon.”
Furthermore, Porsche’s charger-finding software will be updated later this year to include Tesla’s Supercharger network on its maps, making it easier for drivers to locate and utilize these charging stations. This development not only benefits Porsche EV owners but also Audi and VW EV owners who may be looking to access the Tesla Supercharger network.
In terms of the adapter itself, it bears a resemblance to the Lectron adapter, suggesting that customers who wish to acquire it sooner can consider ordering a Lectron adapter online. Overall, this integration of Porsche EVs with the Tesla Supercharger network marks a significant advancement in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, enhancing the convenience and accessibility for EV drivers across North America.
