Shangjie, a new automotive brand developed jointly by Huawei and SAIC Motor, has announced impressive pre-order figures for its first model, the H5 SUV, indicating a strong demand for the vehicle.

The H5 has garnered over 80,000 pre-orders, as revealed by Shangjie on Weibo. This milestone was achieved within just two weeks since the commencement of pre-sales on August 25. The official launch of the H5 is scheduled for September 23.

Customers ordering the H5 are being offered incentives based on the volume of pre-orders. Shangjie is providing discounts of RMB 1,000 ($140) per car for orders exceeding 50,000 units, RMB 2,000 for over 100,000 units, and RMB 3,000 for surpassing 150,000 units. The brand has already started shipping the first batch of H5 display vehicles to its stores.

With a pre-sales price range starting at RMB 169,800 to RMB 209,800, the H5 is positioned as the most affordable model under Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business. The vehicle will come equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 advanced driving assistance system at launch, making it the most budget-friendly car to feature this technology.

Shortly after the initiation of pre-sales, Shangjie announced on Weibo that the H5 had secured over 25,000 pre-orders within the first hour. The brand has set ambitious goals, aiming for monthly sales of 20,000 H5 units and communicating an annual production target of 400,000 vehicles to its supply chain based on future model plans.

In the coming year, Shangjie plans to introduce two new models: a sedan and another SUV, with the SUV expected to be released in the first half of the year. To ensure timely delivery of Shangjie models, SAIC and Huawei have made extensive preparations in both production capacity and distribution channels.

SAIC has established a specialized factory for Shangjie in Lingang, Shanghai, and has also taken over part of the production lines at SAIC-GM’s Jinqiao plant in Shanghai. These strategic moves are aimed at meeting the anticipated demand for Shangjie vehicles and ensuring a smooth production process.

The growing popularity of the H5 SUV reflects the success of Shangjie’s collaboration with Huawei and SAIC Motor, setting a strong foundation for the brand’s future in the automotive industry. With innovative features and competitive pricing, the H5 is poised to make a significant impact in the market and attract a wide range of customers.
