Porsche Taycan Review 2024, Price & Specs

The Porsche Taycan lineup is nothing short of impressive when it comes to performance. Even the base model, with rear-wheel drive, boasts a 0-62mph time of just 4.8 seconds. But it’s the Turbo S model that really takes things to the next level, with more than double the power of the base model and a driven front axle that delivers an exhilarating driving experience.

On a damp day at MIRA, we had the opportunity to test the Turbo S model. Despite the less than ideal conditions, the car managed to clock an impressive 2.6 seconds from 0-60mph with Sport Plus mode engaged and Launch Control activated. It took just 5.4 seconds to reach 100mph and 11.6 seconds to hit 150mph before topping out at 162mph.

Comparing these numbers to other high-performance cars, such as the current-generation 911 Turbo S, the Taycan Turbo S holds its own and even outperforms in some aspects. The acceleration from 30-70mph in just 1.9 seconds is particularly impressive, rivaling even the likes of the Bugatti Veyron Supersport.

But beyond the raw speed, the Taycan Turbo S excels in delivering a smooth and controlled driving experience. The braking system is responsive and reliable, ensuring that the car can slow down just as quickly as it can accelerate. The power and torque delivery is smooth and easily modulated, allowing for precise control even with the immense propulsive force at your disposal.

While the Turbo S model is undoubtedly impressive, the other variants in the Taycan lineup also offer ample power and performance. The entry-level model, with 429bhp and a 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds, is no slouch either. In testing, the rear-wheel drive Taycan with the Performance Battery Plus exceeded expectations, reaching its top speed of 146mph with ease.

Overall, the Porsche Taycan lineup offers a range of models that deliver exhilarating performance and a driving experience unlike any other. Whether you opt for the Turbo S or one of the other variants, you can expect a thrilling ride with impressive acceleration and precise handling. With the Taycan, Porsche has redefined what it means to drive an electric vehicle, proving that high performance and sustainability can go hand in hand.
