World’s First In-Port Heavy-Duty Truck Chassis Battery Swapping Station Launched by CATL and YANTIAN

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CATL QIJI Energy, a subsidiary of CATL, and Yantian International Container Terminal (YANTIAN) have officially announced the launch of the world’s first in-port all-in-one heavy-duty truck chassis battery swapping station. This groundbreaking collaboration aims to revolutionize port logistics and develop a green, low-carbon transportation system in China.

Located within Yantian Port, this innovative battery swap station offers dual benefits of cost reduction and environmental advantages for the logistics industry. The station is compatible with multiple brands and models of pure electric heavy-duty trucks, enabling seamless battery swaps in just five minutes, significantly boosting operational efficiency at the port.

The innovative under-chassis battery design increases each truck’s capacity to 342 kWh, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity for safer driving and smoother operations. This design also minimizes downtime caused by frequent charging, ensuring uninterrupted port operations.

Heavy-duty trucks using QIJI Energy’s battery swapping solution are expected to reduce energy consumption costs by 20% compared to traditional oil-fueled trailers. The initial deployment of nearly 100 pure electric heavy-duty trucks at Yantian Port is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 5,000 tonnes annually, improving the environmental quality of the port and surrounding areas while optimizing logistics efficiency.
