NIO, a prominent Chinese EV automaker, has introduced its latest sub-brand called Firefly, which focuses on producing smaller and more affordable electric vehicles. The unveiling of Firefly took place during NIO Day 2024, where the parent company showcased its first model designed to compete with compact brands like MINI and smart. While exterior images of the upcoming Firefly EV have been shared previously, a recent spy image circulating on Chinese social media provides a first look at the interior of the vehicle.

The spy image reveals the front seat of Firefly’s flagship model, showcasing a design that bears a striking resemblance to NIO’s existing electric vehicles. The dashboard features a horizontal center screen and a smaller display, in line with NIO’s design language. Despite the presence of a prominent red button in the center console, indicating that the vehicle is still a prototype, the Firefly logo on the steering wheel confirms its identity.

According to reports, the Firefly EV is expected to be launched in China in April 2025, with plans to expand to the European market shortly after. The pricing for the Firefly EV in China has been set at RMB 148,800 ($20,390), positioning it competitively against other electric vehicles in its segment. NIO founder William Li has stated that Firefly will utilize local partner outlets for sales in Europe, starting in the first half of 2025.

As we approach the anticipated launch date in April, more information about Firefly and any additional images are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new addition to NIO’s electric vehicle lineup.
