Tenways launches its huge Cargo One electric bike in the US

Tenways, a well-known electric bike brand recognized for its sleek and commuter-friendly e-bikes, is making a bold move by entering the cargo bike market in the US with the launch of the Tenways Cargo One. This front-loading electric cargo bike is set to compete with major brands like Urban Arrow while offering a more affordable option for families in need of two-wheeled transportation solutions.

The Cargo One represents a significant expansion for Tenways as it delves into the front-loading cargo e-bike category, also known as bakfiets in Dutch. This style of e-bike is popular in Europe, particularly in countries like the Netherlands where it is commonly used for transporting multiple children on a single bike. The front-loading design provides better visibility for parents and makes it easier for kids to get on and off the bike, all while maintaining a lower center of gravity for added stability.

Unlike Tenways’ other e-bikes that are typically shipped directly to consumers for assembly at home, the Cargo One will be delivered fully assembled through local Tenways dealers. This decision was made due to the bike’s size and complexity, ensuring that riders receive a properly built, ready-to-ride machine from the get-go. The Cargo One’s large passenger/storage box and intricate linked steering require expert assembly for optimal performance.

Equipped with an 800-liter front cargo box, the Cargo One is designed for family transport, urban deliveries, or heavy-duty hauling. Integrated lighting, including “EV-style” sidelights and standard front and rear LED lights, ensures visibility and safety in low-light conditions. The bike features a Bafang mid-drive motor powered by a 960Wh portable battery, offering a range of up to 90 km per charge. The Gates CDX carbon belt paired with an Enviolo stepless shifting hub provides a low-maintenance and smooth riding experience.

With hydraulic disc brakes, the Cargo One is suitable for riders between 165 to 196 cm in height. Weighing 56 kg, the bike has a top speed of 32 km/h, striking a balance between performance and practicality for everyday utility cycling.

In a market dominated by high-end European brands with front-loading cargo bikes starting at over $6,000, the Tenways Cargo One stands out with a price tag of $5,499. This makes it a more accessible option for individuals looking to embrace the utility and lifestyle benefits of front-loading cargo e-bikes without breaking the bank.

By introducing the Cargo One, Tenways is demonstrating its commitment to meeting the growing demand for family- and utility-focused electric bikes in the US. As cities invest more in bike infrastructure and residents seek alternative transportation solutions, front-loading cargo e-bikes are emerging as a practical and eco-friendly mode of transport.

In conclusion, the Tenways Cargo One presents a compelling option for families and urban dwellers looking to make the switch to electric cargo bikes. With its combination of functionality, affordability, and quality construction, the Cargo One has the potential to make a significant impact on the electric bike market in the US.
