Tesla recently introduced a new accessory that allows Cybertruck owners to add power outlets to their vehicles. The accessory, called the ‘Powershare Outlet Adapter,’ is priced at $80 and can be purchased from Tesla’s online store.
This new accessory is designed for the cheaper version of the Cybertruck, which does not come with power outlets in the bed. The accessory allows users to “Macgyver” a couple of power outlets from the Cybertruck’s charge port, providing them with two 120V 20A power outlets when combined with Tesla’s Gen 3 Mobile Connector.
The Cybertruck Long Range RWD, which was recently launched by Tesla, has received mixed reviews due to the removal of several features. The new version is $9,000 more expensive than originally planned and lacks important features such as dual motors, adaptive air suspension, motorized tonneau, vegan leather seats, rear screen for the backseat, and power outlets in the bed.
While the Powershare Outlet Adapter offers a partial solution to the lack of power outlets in the bed, it is still disappointing for many Cybertruck owners. The accessory requires users to purchase the $300 mobile charging connector separately, as it does not come with the truck.
Overall, the introduction of the Powershare Outlet Adapter highlights the compromises made in the new trim of the Cybertruck. Despite the addition of power outlets through the accessory, the removal of key features in the cheaper version of the Cybertruck has left many customers feeling dissatisfied. Tesla’s decision to remove $20,000 worth of features while only offering a $10,000 discount on the vehicle has raised concerns about the company’s recent direction.
