Tesla’s Model 3 electric sedan is set to be delivered to Chinese customers in a quicker timeframe, with wait times now ranging from 2-4 weeks, compared to the previous 4-6 weeks. This news comes after a slight increase in wait times early last month.
The Model Y, another popular Tesla model, currently has a delivery wait time of 1-3 weeks in China, which has remained consistent since July.
Both the Model 3 and Model Y are locally produced at Tesla’s Shanghai plant and are available in three variants each. The Model 3 starts at a price of RMB 231,900 ($32,540) for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive version, with the long-range all-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive performance options priced at RMB 271,900 and RMB 335,900 respectively. The Model Y starts at RMB 249,900 for the entry-level version, with the long-range and performance options priced at RMB 290,900 and RMB 354,900.
Tesla has extended a five-year, 0 percent interest loan program in China until November 30, after initially launching the incentive on April 3. The company has consistently extended the program on a monthly basis since its inception.
In September, Tesla China sold a total of 88,321 vehicles, including 16,121 for export. The Model 3 sold 23,998 units, while the Model Y sold 48,202 units, marking the highest sales figures for both models in China so far this year.
Overall, Tesla’s vehicles in China saw 13,200 insurance registrations during the week of October 14-20, representing a 55.29 percent increase from the previous week.
With the Model 3 and Model Y continuing to be popular choices among Chinese customers, Tesla’s presence in the Chinese market remains strong, with consistent sales and delivery times for its electric vehicles.
